How it works

It’s really simple. The computer does most of the work for you.

A collection of electronic books are added to a style. Download a text version of your favourite books and select these files in CrosswordBox. It’s like putting books into a box and putting a label on the box, which we call a Style.

For every new game, the software will find all the unique words in all of the books in the style and match them against known words in the dictionary. The software then finds a random combination of these words that will fit the selected layout.

New styles can be created or downloaded (see the downloads page). If the unique word count is too small, the software might not be able to create a new game. The style setup screen shows the status of each Style. Check the status column to see if a successful game can be created.
